February 2011

We are pleased to announce that we now have all the regulatory approvals in place and have been given authorisation to restart recruitment!!!

The drugs are ready for distribution and should be arriving at the first sites the week beginning 15th February.

Although the remaining patients will be recruited from UK sites only, we would like to thank all of our participating sites for their help and support.

We have BHF funding in place for a further 2 years from relaunch to enable us to complete the trial. Hopefully we can now move forward and continue to recruit at a rate to equal or even exceed our previous recruitment.

If there are any other UK Neurosurgical Centres we have not yet approached and who would like to be involved we would love to hear from you. In most centres we can access support from the UK Clinical Research Network (UKCRN) who are excellent at helping with the paperwork!!

We would also like to welcome Christopher Smith to Cambridge. He has joined the STASH team and will be working as a Trial Coordinator.

On behalf of the STASH team we would like to thank you all for your patience and continued support throughout the past, very difficult, 18 months.

April 2009

We have passed the 400 barrier!!!

Congratulations to you all, we have now recruited 407 patients.

There are now 32 centres that are up and running. If anyone else is interested in joining us, we will have a table at the SBNS in Birmingham, so please do come and have a chat.

February 2009

Thank you to all of you who joined us in Cambridge for the investigators meeting in October. It was very well supported and everyone seemed to enjoy both the meeting and the dinner in Newnham College.

We are still actively looking for new centres so do get in touch if you are interested in joining us.

Congratulations to everyone - we have now randomised 200 patients!!!!

Further good news!! We have secured funding from the British Heart Foundation for the STASH Trial so should very shortly be able to pay you for your efforts. It is now very important that we keep up the recruitment rate so please do keep recruiting.

Thank you for your support.

March 2008

Randomisation Total:

188 patients

We are now approaching the 200 patient milestone, well done everyone!!

We have 15 centres that are participating, but would welcome more!!

Recruitment is progressing steadily, we had our best ever month in October 2007 where 27 patients were randomised.

Countries that have randomised up to March 2008

Country                                    % recruited

UK                                            74%

Uruguay                                     8%

Singapore                                   7%

Sweden                                      6%

Canada                                       5%

Please do keep randomising all your SAH patients, we need the numbers. Every patient counts.

We have now received 6 month outcome questionnaires from 87 patients. Please make every effort to obtain completed questionnaires. If this is proving problematical then a modified Rankin Score would suffice, this can be done by telephone. As this is the primary outcome measure, it is integral to the study.

Thank you for your help!!

Any centre who is having problems with their ethics submission, recruitment process or would like to join the trial, please contact us and we will be very happy to visit to discuss or help in any way.
